Explore the Prosecco Hills, an area celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and renowned sparkling wines. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019, these picturesque hills invite visitors to discover their beauty by following 'la Strada del Prosecco,' Italy's first wine road.
Begin your journey in Conegliano and spend the afternoon exploring its local attractions before setting off through the Prosecco Hills the next morning. Unspoilt by mass tourism, you'll wander through sleepy hamlets, tranquil woodland paths, and endless vineyards, with plenty of opportunities to sample the local wines. Visit the charming village of Follina and admire its historic buildings such as the Abbey before eating at one of the many local restaurants. Walk to the Prosecco capital of Valdobbiadene and visit San Salvatore Castle, perched on the hilltops of Susegana before taking the bus back to Conegliano for your final evening.
Along the way, you'll stay in welcoming villages nestled among the Prosecco Hills, each offering its own flavour of local life. Veneto is well known throughout Italy for its beloved aperitivo, a moment where locals gather in the late afternoon to enjoy some time together over a drink and cicchetti- delightful small bites such as marinated olives, crusty breads topped with regional specialities, and, in this area, even golden polenta. It's the perfect way to unwind after a day of walking, soaking in not just the scenery, but the culture too.
A perfect trip for those who enjoy gentle walks, local flavours, and stunning views, this holiday through the Prosecco Hills captures the essence of slow travel in northern Italy. From hilltop hamlets to evening aperitivos, every moment is steeped in charm and tradition.
The routes follow well-established paths that wind through picturesque hills with gentle ascents and descents. For comfort and safety, we advise wearing sturdy walking shoes or boots.
Arrive at your hotel in Conegliano, a charming town celebrated for its DOCG wines and home to Italy's oldest and most prestigious wine school, La Scuola Enologica. This esteemed institution has played a crucial role in preserving and developing the region's grape varieties, maintaining the long-standing tradition of wine production.
Spend your afternoon exploring the historic remains of Conegliano's 10th-century castle, perched on a hill and housing a small museum with panoramic views of Conegliano. Alternatively, unwind at one of the many charismatic bars and soak in the local atmosphere.
Enjoy your first day in this delightful town, where history and viticulture blend seamlessly.

Visit Collalto and pass the ruins of Collalto Castle, much of the castle was damaged during World War I, however, the ancient tower and portions of the walls still remain visible today. Head into woodland paths for a tranquil walk before reaching the magnificent San Salvatore Castle, a highlight of the region's rich history. The castle suffered significant damage during World War I when it was used by Austro-German forces and later bombarded by Italian artillery.
