We supply you with a comprehensive selection of maps, guides and route directions for your independent walking holiday. These are included in the price and are sent to you via email in advance of your trip so that you can familiarise yourself with all the details. Our maps are highly detailed whilst our guidebooks contain invaluable information on the local area including culture and customs, art and history, flora and fauna. These can also be posted out to you on request.
Our route directions provide clear, in-depth step-by-step instructions. We highlight landmarks, distances and any potential confusing turnings, so you can be sure of a relaxed journey on foot. We also include detours to places of interest, shortcuts to avoid hills, and places to stop off for lunch. On some of our walking holidays we offer GPS route navigation devices too, for that extra peace of mind.
Our reps and guides check out the routes and itineraries regularly on every holiday in the Headwater brochure to make sure that all aspects of the trip are as described. Occasionally, footpaths are diverted or restaurants close, but our thorough checking of details will give peace of mind to customers that routes have been adapted and updated. At the start of your holiday our reps will point out any last minute alterations and will also offer advice on how to get the best from your holiday.
On selected holidays we now offer the Headwater Navigation App. Similar to a car sat-nav system it proides turn-by-turn route directions via your smart phone – meaning less need to carry large paper maps and directions and more time to enjoy the journey and follow the built-in voice navigation. We even include detours to places of interest, shortcuts to avoid hills, and places to stop off for lunch!
On our guided walking holidays our expert local guides will lead you through their homelands and share their experiences with you. You won't need a map as they know all the best places to visit! We provide you with a notes booklet introducing you to your destination so that you know what delights to expect when you arrive.
