This walking holiday combines Croatia's rich cultural heritage and its amazing natural beauty; a stunning coastline of isolated beaches, unspoilt islands, tourist-free villages and historic sites is perfect for exploring on foot whilst island-hopping between the islands of Brac, Hvar, Korcula and Mljet. You'll also enjoy plenty of swimming opportunities throughout the week.
You start in Trogir, where the first Greek settlers landed, listed by UNESCO for its wealth of classical buildings such as St Lovro's church and the Venetian loggia. You then island hop along the Dalmatian Coast. First stop is Brac where you can enjoy views from the highest point in the Adriatic islands; next stop Hvar, the sunniest place in the country and where you will discover abandoned ancient hamlets, vineyards and lavender fields. On Korcula you'll discover the agricultural side of the island, along with the historic old town and a Nature Park. The National Park (entrance included) on Mljet is the oldest marine protected area in the Mediterranean. And finally there's the UNESCO-listed old town of Dubrovnik, where well-preserved ramparts surround a honeycomb of Renaissance churches, secret courtyards and sumptuous merchants' palaces.
We're extremely pleased with our choice of hotels too. Our 4 star hotel in Trogir looks over onto the old town, our 3 star hotel in Hvar is situated in a secluded pine grove and in Dubrovnik, we stay in a 3 star hotel on the Lapad peninsula.
This holiday follows a variety of trails, along coastal paths, through agricultural land and through woodland. Trails can be rocky in places.
Arrive at your hotel in Trogir, enjoy a wander and dinner in the old town.
You stay at Hotel Vila Sikaa.
Hotel Vila Sikaa is a small family run hotel located in a waterfront building which is over 300 years old with a stunning view to the historical nucleus of the old town of Trogir.
Extra nights: Please contact us for details.
Transfer to Split for a morning ferry to Brac where you reach the highest peak of the Adriatic islands, Vidova Gora (780m) and enjoy spectacular views. Head to Bol for a swim or to visit the town before taking the catamaran ferry to Hvar.
You stay at Hotel Pharos.
Situated in a secluded pine grove the Hotel Pharos Hvar offers brightly furnished rooms, an outdoor swimming pool and bar area.
Enjoy a rest day on Hvar, head to the beach, explore Hvar town or opt for a half day boat trip (extra cost) to the Pakleni Islands.
Today's walk is from Velo Grablje village to Hvar town. First stop is the small, almost forgotten village of Malo Grablje, set in the hills. Descend to the coastal village of Milna and pause for a swim before following a coast path back to Hvar town. You'll then take the catamaran to Korcula island where you spend the next 3 nights.
You stay at Hotel Marco Polo.
Hotel Marco Polo has a splendid location right above the beaches and just a 5-minute walk from the old town of Korčula. Rooms have a view of either the garden or the sea. The hotel also has a restaurant, bar and wellness centre.
A transfer takes you to Pupnat, the smallest, and one of the oldest villages of the island. Follow the path of Marmont, a Napoleon general who modernized Dalmatia. Walk through fields and olive groves to Kocje Nature Park, a protected area with a narrow canyon and interesting rock formations. Descend to Korcula town.
Take the catamaran to Mljet where you can explore the National Park and discover the salt lakes of Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero. In the middle of Veliko Jezero is a small island with a 12th century Benedictine monastery which can be reached by boat. After heading to the top of the island for panoramic views return by catamaran to Korcula.
A morning transfer by catamaran to Dubrovnik allowing a free afternoon to explore the marbled streets and stairways of the Old Town to discover churches, palaces and museums. Walk the walls (payable locally) to enjoy fantastic views to the old town and along the coast.
You stay at Hotel Perla.
Hotel Perla is located in Lapad Bay, only 3km and an easy bus ride from the historical centre of the City of Dubrovnik and just 100m away from a sandy beach.
