Our holidays in Germany are based in Germany's most southerly province, Bavaria.
The people of Bavaria are open, friendly, relaxed and enjoy the good things in life. So many generations of Kings and Queens have left a fabulous legacy of fairytale castles like Schloss Neuschwanstein, and opulent Royal spa towns like Bad Reichenhall. Even local walking paths are named for kings who used to ride along them!
In addition to culture and history, Bavaria is home to some of Europe's most captivating landscapes. Some of Germany's highest peaks are found here, soaring high above shimmering azure lakes, surrounded by the fractured limestone summits of the Bavarian Alps that glow warm pink at dusk. Below the tree line in the lush valleys the views are so near perfection it is uncanny: gingerbread farmhouses, tiny onion domed village churches and crystal clear streams and rivers can all be found on a holiday here.
Bavaria is simply stunning – criss-crossed by beautiful rivers that meander through deep valleys, contrast dark Alpine forest, pretty towns and villages are home to quaint traditional inns and eateries, and onion-domed church towers peep above lush green meadows.
This eight-night holiday is situated in beautiful unspoilt Bavaria. Like Andalucia to Spain, Bavaria is very much the archetypical Germany. Bratwurst, beer and Lederhosen are still the mode of fashion. Behind this caricature of German psyche lies a stunning region surrounded by the German Jura Mountains, dissected by a network of beautiful rivers, pine-clad hills, hilltop castles and pretty towns and villages around every turn in the road.
Surrounded by the pinky-gold summits of the Bavarian Alps, walkers in Oberammergau will come across beautiful frescoed houses, rustic farming villages and tiny onion-domed churches. Boasting a wealth of well signed paths, and easy to follow trails, it's a Mecca for walking enthusiasts.
Welcome to the Fünf-Flüsse-Radweg, one of Bavaria’s long-distance cycle routes. This circular route starts in the UNESCO mediaeval city of Regensburg and takes you on a 10-night journey through the north-east of Bavaria. You’ll follow a series of well-networked paths along a mix of waterways: the majestic Danube, the stunning Altmühl, the Main-Danube Canal, the tiny Pegnitz and the beautiful Naab.
