This holiday takes place in the high mountain plateau of the Rondane, in the south-eastern corner of Norway, overlooking the Gudbrandsdalen valley. During the winter, the region lies deep in snow, and is home to herds of wild reindeer, almost 4,000 at the last count!
Your base for the week is the remote high mountain Rondablikk Hoyfjellshotel (910m) on the treeline of the Rondane National Park. Offering unrivalled views of the Rondane National Park and surrounding lakes, this relaxed and friendly hotel also boasts an indoor swimming pool and sauna, as well as pool table and popular bar with log fire. On most evenings, there will be low-key live music in the bar, something that is very popular with Norwegian guests.
Our snowshoeing week is all about having fun in the snow! No previous experience is necessary, and the trip will be tailored towards first-timers. We’ve built in 4 days of walking at a relaxed pace, through forests, occasionally crossing frozen lakes and climbing low fells, making our own tracks across the snow. On one day, we swap our snowshoes for cross country skis, and on your free day, we can arrange for you to try dog sledding or ice fishing.
Please note that this holiday is managed locally by our sister company, Exodus.
