TRIP DESCRIPTION

Leutasch is truly a winter wonderland - its high level plateau and tranquil valley provide some of the prettiest and most extensive cross-country skiing and walking trails in Europe. The Winter Olympics have been held here twice and 2019 saw the World Cross Country Ski Championships held in nearby Seefeld.

There's plenty of skiing here for all levels, with the loipes opposite the hotel providing excellent practice areas, as well as doorstep access to the rest of the network. There are gentle plateau trails, peaceful valley runs and more challenging routes on the wooded hillsides offering stunning valley views. There's clear signposting and an excellent free trail map for perfect self-guided exploration, along with superb downhill skiing in Seefeld, just 15 minutes away. If you fancy a change from cross-country skiing, there are also horse-drawn sleigh rides, tobogganing, ice skating and snowshoeing available locally.

After exhilarating days, indulge in Austrian culinary delights. Tiroler Grostl, a classic dish with pan-fried potatoes, meat, butter, and caramelised onions, paired with Gluhwein, a fragrant blend of red wine and spices, offers a hearty reward. Save room for iconic desserts like Viennese Apfelstrudel or decadent Zachertorte.

Your base for the week is the luxury and family-run 4-star Hotel Hubertushof, tucked away in the hamlet of Reindlau, with a stunning backdrop of the snowcapped Wetterstein mountains. It boasts all the luxuries you would expect of a high-class hotel, and is just a short bus ride from the village (a complimentary bus pass is included for all stays). The bedrooms are spacious yet cosy, with the wooden panneling and carved furniture which is so typical of the Tyrol region. Included as standard is the hotel's superb afternoon 'sweet hour', when a variety of snacks and cakes are served to refresh hungry skiers and once a week, guests are invited onto the hotel's panoramic terrace for an evening of Gluhwein tasting. The hotel offers a heated indoor swimming pool, two saunas, steam bath, whirlpool bath and boot room. Beauty treatments and massages are also available at an additional cost (payable locally), should you wish to spoil yourself.

Discover the essence of the perfect Austrian ski holiday, blending serenity and excitement for skiers of all levels, including exhilarating cross-country skiing adventures. Amidst breathtaking landscapes, indulge in self-guided explorations, savour delectable cuisine, and experience the warm embrace of Hotel Hubertushof-a true haven in this magnificent winter wonderland.

Very helpful and great holiday package

Amanda Law, 3 Feb 2024

Hotel has a wonderful location, is really pleasant, excellent meals, has swimming pool, sauna etc and a heated boot room for skis.

Anthony Sturdee, 21 Jan 2024

Very good

Not much to criticise to be honest

John Ward, 21 Jan 2024

The hotel staff are very helpful and obliging. The accommodation was all it should be. My local ski school instructor and the ski hire staff were pleasant and easy to deal with. The integrated access to the pistes and to busses is impressive. The countryside is dramatic. When you've had enough skiing, there are good walks from the hotel by the river or even to the attractive town of Mittenwald, just across the German border.

Prof Grier, 21 Jan 2023

We stayed at Hotel Hubertshof in Leutasch. The hotel is exceptional apart from pillows! It is great for easy cross country from the door. If you want to travel there are a few buses but planning is essential. There are no other facilities with walking distance. Leutasch is a beautiful area.

Mrs Mckee, 15 Jan 2023

We've been to Leutasch for XC skiing several times with Headwater. The current hotel is excellent. The 'out of town' location at the base of a mountain is wonderful giving views from most windows up and down the valley, the food and comfort is great and it has a heated boot room to store skis. You just cross the road and start skiing! Or catch the free bus to ski in a different place every day. There are also really nice winter walking trails (you get a free local map) if you fancy a change. We shall be returning in 2024 to enjoy the Hotel Hubertushof again!

Mr Sturdee, 15 Jan 2023

An area that offered a range of winter activities, friendly and in March fairly quiet.

Miss Reay, 5 Mar 2022

Had a really good experience. Decided quite late in the day to go (less than a month beforehand) and it was wonderful to have the holiday all sorted in no time through very helpful folks in the office. I was on a self-guided tour, but it was a real bonus that Steve Barrington (the guide for the guided ski tours) was happy to spend time with us later in the week + share information. He also very kindly took myself and 2 others out skiing on our final day which was extremely kind and well beyond the call of duty. Much appreciated!
