It's amazing that Leutasch isn't better known. This high level plateau and tranquil valley is truly a winter wonderland and offers some of the prettiest and most extensive walking trails in Europe. As well as being ideal for winter walking, Leutasch and Seefeld also offers a first class cross country ski centre, horse-drawn sleigh rides, tobogganing, curling, ice skating, snowshoeing, alpine skiing.
Resident Headwater guide, Christine Barrington, provides a daily winter walking itinerary of typically 8-10km (3-4 hours) walks where you will discover a selection of idyllic plateau, forest, river and valley trails taking you through some of the finest Austrian scenery and through the prettiest of Tyrolean hamlets. If, at any time, you feel like 'doing your own thing', then there's clear signposting and we will also provide a local walking map.
The area around Leutasch and Seefeld where our walking tour will be running is the perfect destination, with over 140km of cleared trails allowing you to discover a different area each day of the week. The paths will be cleared and gritted or treated with sawdust soon after snowfall.
You stay in the heart of the Leutasch Valley, with doorstep access to the very best skiing. Our luxury and family run **** Hotel Xander, the oldest inn in the valley, is tucked away next to the onion-domed village church, and has been sensitively modernised to incorporate all the luxuries you would expect of a high class hotel. The huge bedrooms feel more like apartments, with your own lounge area and tea/coffee-making facilities, and the bathrooms have both a bath and a shower.
There is a heated indoor swimming pool, two saunas, steam bath, whirlpool bath and solarium (pay locally), fitness studio, boot room and, if you want to spoil yourself, beauty treatments and massages at extra cost. For children, there's an indoor play area and games room, with table tennis, pool, table football, darts and pinball.
We also offer a cross-country skiing holiday at this hotel - ideal if some of your party would prefer a skiing week.
