Tailor-made travel choices

We believe, and customers tell us, that our holidays are unbeatable for choice and flexibility. On the 'Departure dates and prices' page for each holiday you'll see we've suggested the most popular routes, but we offer a variety of travel options for you to choose from. Where possible, alternative travel options are shown on the 'Your travel options' page for each holiday.

Self-drive choices

Our standard self drive prices are based on Eurotunnel. Eurotunnel is the quickest and most convenient way of crossing the channel, with a crossing time of only 35 minutes from Folkestone to Calais. There are up to three departures an hour during peak periods. Eurotunnel's drive on / drive off process is very quick, easy and hassle free with little waiting around time at either end. Eurotunnel also has the added bonus of not being affected by adverse weather conditions, which makes for a reliable service 365 days a year. Eurotunnel trains are all air-conditioned throughout and have toilets on board.

Flexiplus option

Customers travelling by Eurotunnel can opt for FlexiPlus at a supplement of £119 per car (up to 8 passengers including the driver) return. This will entitle you to a priority club lane check-in, entry to the exclusive private FlexiPlus lounge (open 06:00-22:00), a light meal, tea, coffee, chocolate, newspaper and use of phone/fax facilities.

Alternative self-drive travel

For customers wanting a short Dover-Calais sea crossing, we can offer competetive rates with both P&O Ferries and SeaFrance, and from Dover- Dunkirk with Norfolkline. We can also book all longer channel crossings and most details are given here. All prices are based on the number of people sharing a car (5 passengers unless otherwise stated) and most routes are based on return journies. If your trip spans two price bands, simply average the supplements - but you must use the same carrier in both directions. For all routes we recommend that you book any onboard ferry accommodation (including reclining seats) as soon as possible as places tend to fill very quickly. Travelling by Air

Our inclusive arrangements for air, and air-rail, travel are shown on the individual holiday pages. Although, in most cases, prices and timings are based on departures from either Gatwick or Heathrow, we can often tailor your plans so that you fly from your local airport - see below for details, or call us for the most up to date times, prices and schedules. Please note that the airfares on which we have based our brochure prices have been specially negotiated to give our customers the very best deals possible. In order to guarantee these prices, however, early booking is advised.

Upgraded Air Travel

Should you wish to travel in business, club or first class, then we can offer you the opportunity to upgrade to a superior service with most of our featured airlines. Depending on your route and airline, benefits of upgrading your flight may include: dedicated faster check-in; executive lounges; wider seat pitch and more leg room; unlimited complimentary refreshments (including alcoholic drinks); enhanced meal service, and improved luggage allowance. E-Tickets for Air Travel

Electronic or e-tickets have now replaced conventional paper flight tickets. You are provided with a flight receipt, which only details the arrival and departure airport and the flight number. It does however, contain a reference number as proof of booking (although in theory, you do not need a receipt to be able to check-in, just your passport as identification). Airlines prefer e-tickets as a quick and easy way to check-in and they allow you to travel without having to remember to take your paper flight ticket with you, you just need your reference number. When checking in on an e-ticket you will not be handed any form of paper ticket, just your boarding pass.

On-line and Self Service Check-in

Many airlines now operate an optional self service check-in system at the larger airports. Certain airlines also offer an on-line check in facility 24hrs prior to departure. This allows you to select your own seat and avoid lengthy queues. If you have bags to check-in, you simply drop them off at the designated desks and they will be forwarded to your aircraft in the usual way.

In flight Meals & Check-in luggage

More and more airlines are now no longer providing in-flight meals and free check-in luggage as part of their service. Where possible, we always include these for Headwater customers, however we cannot guarantee this service on all flights.

Holiday Extras

Should you require overnight airport accommodation, airport parking or even a uniformed chauffeur to take your car from your departure terminal and park it for you, we can arrange this for you through Holiday Extras. Early booking is recommended to obtain the best availability and prices.

Low Cost Airlines

In addition to full scheduled airlines and selected charter services, we are pleased to be able to offer and recommend a number of low cost carriers for selected holidays. Should you wish us to book your low cost flight for you, there will be an administration fee of £30 per person. Full payment for all low cost air tickets will be required at the time of booking. These airlines offer a limited in-flight service and meals and refreshments, if available, must be paid for on board.

Regional Flights & UK Shuttles

Our standard air prices are based on flying out of London, however we appreciate that flying from your regional airport can be a much more attractive alternative. Check the 'Your travel options' link on the individual holiday pages to see the most popular options.

Travelling by Eurostar

For holiday areas reached by train from Paris or Lille, we can book connecting daily Eurostar services, from London and Ashford in Kent from just £38 supplement return. No supplement for children 4-11 years. Thanks to the new Tunnel Link improvements, Eurostar is now 20 minutes faster and, with up to 20 trains a day to Paris, the flexibility is excellent. The average journey time to Paris from St Pancras is just 2 hours 15 minutes and from Ashford just 2 hours - please note there are only 3 services a day that stop at Ashford.

Where we include a standard class Eurostar ticket (no smoking seats where available), we also provideMetro tickets to cross Paris. During July and August we can also offer a direct service from London and Ashford to Avignon in Provence. Please phone for full details and prices. If you want to travel first class on Eurostar to Paris or Lille, from just £ supplement per adult, you can experience and benefit from: spacious reclining seats, 3 course meal served at your table, complimentary champagne aperitifs, and wine with meals, as well as a selection of complimentary drinks available throughout the journey and onboard magazine and complimentary newspapers. First class supplements to Avignon on request.

Of course if you want to spend extra time in either Paris or London, we can always book trains to suite, just let us know at the time of booking.

Onward travel by TGV

Travel beyond Paris or Lille and let the high-speed TGV take you to the heart of France. A simple platform change on arrival in Lille by Eurostar connects you to over 40 TGV destinations across France, including Strasbourg, Dijon and Marseille. For a wider range of destinations, make your connection in Paris. Eurostar services arrive in Gare du Nord and onward connections are just a short taxi or Metro ride away. There are no check-in queues to endure or traffic jams to suffer. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the panoramic views as you are whisked across France at 200mph!

Car Hire

Car hire can be arranged in all the countries where we operate. For certain holidays, we recommend hiring a car for your entire stay. On selected holidays, complimentary car hire is included for all air passengers - see individual holiday pages for full details. We can, of course, arrange car hire for other holidays to allow for independent exploring perhaps at the beginning or end of your time with us.

Our preferred car hire supplier is Europcar. Cars with unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver and theft protection (excesses payable according to country and size of vehicle hired) collected from and returned to the airport or city centre are available from £26 per day in France and £34 per day in Italy. In some countries, there is a daily supplement for additional drivers. If you wish to drop your car off at a different place to where you picked it up, we can usually arrange this for you, often at no additional cost.
