General information:
This is an Independent walking holiday, where you walk from hotel to hotel

This holiday is 2 Boot level. Some walking on coastal paths. Mainly along good paths, but variable waymarking. Little shade on coastal path and therefore very hot in high season. Generally more testing than the distances might suggest.

Lots of steps (mainly down) so not good for anyone with hip/knee problems.

Location:
The Amalfi Coast is known to the world for its picture-postcard scenery of pastel towns clinging to the cliff sides. On this holiday you explore the peninsula between Ravello and Sorrento, and en route stay at the elegant town of Positano, and also at Recommone, an idyllic bay near the small resort of Marina del Cantone.

You follow scented paths through groves of trees - tangy lemons and plump olives - on the steeply-terraced hillsides. The sea is almost always at your side; there are stunning views along the coastline over to the mighty Mount Vesuvius, beautiful Capri and the lesser-known Li Galli Isles, where Rudolf Nureyev once lived.

As your trail leads you through towns and villages, there are opportunities most days to stop at charming family-run trattorie and savour the incomparable flavours of the Campanian cuisine.

Who would this holiday appeal to?
Excellent cuisine and hotels, beautiful scenery, 'must-sees' such as Capri and Vesuvius/Pompeii. Lots to do on Stay Put Days. No problems for vertigo sufferers especially if guests have walked UK coastal paths.

Most people who like good food, coastal walking and sightseeing would enjoy this holiday. Good for early and late season walking.

Similar to which other holidays?
Capri (good hotel, coastal, independent but walking on Amalfi Coast is tougher). Also, Independent Crete would be another similar choice.

This is a well-known and beautiful area that is difficult to visit independently because of roads/traffic/mountains.
