The Mosel Valley is in north west Gemany, close to the border with Luxemburg. Between the UNESCO heritage city of Trier at one end of the river and the fortress city of Koblenz where it meets the Rhine, everything about this sinuous river valley is attractive and intimate - it's a perfect location for a cycling holiday. The Mosel Valley is a major regional centre for wine production in Germany, and swathes of the valley are given over to well-established vineyards that have been cultivated here since Roman times. Each village is attractive – all of them have different degrees of charm to them, and one of the best things about the valley is the fact you can pencil in stops for elevenses, lunch then afternoon tea in different riverside hamlets, all of which will probably offer wine tasting too!
