TRIP DESCRIPTION

Leutasch is truly a winter wonderland - its high level plateau and tranquil valley provide some of the prettiest and most extensive cross-country skiing and walking trails in Europe. The Winter Olympics have been held here twice and 2019 saw the World Cross Country Ski Championships held in nearby Seefeld. Leutasch also offers horse-drawn sleigh rides, tobogganing, curling, ice skating, snowshoeing and alpine skiing.

Our experienced Headwater Leader, Steve Barrington, provides various skiing weeks during the winter months, aimed at different abilities. This includes weeks solely for beginner skiers, an intermediate skiing week and weeks for groups of mixed ability skiers. (Please see 'other details' in Dates and Prices).

There's plenty of skiing here for all levels, with the loipes opposite the hotel providing good practice areas, as well as easy access to the rest of the network. There are gentle plateau trails, peaceful valley runs and more challenging routes on the wooded hillsides offering stunning valley views. There's clear signposting and an excellent free trail map available if you feel like doing your own thing, along with superb downhill skiing in Seefeld, just 15 minutes away.

You stay in the heart of the Leutasch Valley, with doorstep access to the very best walking and skiing. Our luxury and family run 4 star Hotel Hubertushof is tucked away in the hamlet of Reindlau, wtih a stunning backdrop of the snowcapped Wetterstein mountains. It boasts all the luxuries you would expect of a high-class hotel, as well as offering a handy complimentary shuttle service. The bedrooms are spacious yet cosy, with the wooden panneling and carved furniture which is so typical of the Tyrol region. Included as standard is the hotel's superb afternoon 'sweet hour', when a variety of snacks and cakes are served to refresh hungry skiers and once a week, guests are invited onto the hotel's panoramic terrace for an evening of Gluhwein tasting.

The hotel offers a heated indoor swimming pool, two saunas, steam bath, whirlpool bath and boot room. Beauty treatments and massages are also available at an additional cost (payable locally), should you wish to spoil yourself.

We’ve been going on Headwater walking holidays for about 15 years.

The holidays have always been excellent. Their customer service has been even better.

In particular, our last holiday was rearranged five times because of the pandemic. On each occasion, Headwater looked after the change without fuss.
