This is a 2-boot hotel to hotel independent walking holiday spent hopping between the beautiful Aeolian Islands before ending the trip with a hike up Etna.
This holiday follows mule tracks, stony coastal roads and footpaths through a volcanic landscape of dried lava rock and sand. Due to the frequent, often stony, ascents/descents these walks are more challenging than the distances might suggest. Walking boots are essential, and poles useful.
Your holiday starts in Catania (1 night) and ends in Taormina (3 nights). During the course of the trip, you'll stay on the islands of Lipari (3 nights) and Stromboli (2 nights).
This holiday will appeal to confident travellers who would hopping on and off local boats to experience the very best of the Aeolian Archipelago. It also affords a unique oppportunity to make a nocturnal ascent - accompanied by a qualified vulcanologist - of Stromboli's constantly erupting volcanic crater.
This holiday has similarities to our holiday on Tenerife - 2 boot walking, with a volcano!
