HIDDEN VALLEYS OF CORDOBA (FURTHER DETAILS)

General information:
2 Boot level, independent walking, single centre, no minimum group size. Paths good underfoot but not signed or waymarked.

All walks involve some climbing and descending on farm tracks, goat tracks and former mule tracks.

Location:
This holiday is set in one of the loveliest parts of Andalucia. The region itself is known by few regular tourists as it is off the beaten track, but because of this a visit here is all the more worthwhile. You can wander through the glorious Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park at your leisure and enjoy being on your own for many of the walks.

The village of Zuheros is certainly one of the most picturesque in the region. The tiny castle and square form the heart of the village, and spending a week here will allow you to adjust to the easy pace of village life. Wander the narrow streets, enjoy a beer with the locals in one of the village bars, and visit the local museums which are filled with old artefacts and historical information.

Most of the walks lead you through hidden valleys higher up in the Sierras Subbéticas to white-washed villages, past herds of goats and to lovely viewpoints. Take your time on the walks and enjoy the beautiful countryside to the full.

Who would this holiday appeal to?
Anyone who appreciates peace and quiet, a friendly hotel and excellent value for money. Possibly also keen birdwatchers. Not really suitable for children. OK for single walkers.

Similar to which other holidays?
Gastro Tuscany (it's obviously not gastro, but the food is good). Heart of the Alpujarras.

Possibility of non-standard departures?
Could possibly do non standard dates but we would need to request the accommodation and transfer. Alternatively client could have car hire so they can drive to the hotel. A car is useful for a day trip to Cordoba but a taxi would also be fine. If guests had a car they could visit Granada, which could be expensive by taxi. For non standard transfers, the Hotel can arrange taxis, this must be requested at the time of booking.

Other details:
Enchanting quiet whitewashed village. Pleasant little hotel with friendly staff and good food. The Park is always green, there is contrasting scenery and great long distance views and it's great for birdwatching. Strongly recommend visiting Cordoba during the week.
