General information:
Independent, 8 nights, no minimum number, 2 Cycle level.
Pretty countryside, great for wine lovers, excellent food, great weather and superb hotels. Lovely balance between cycling days (very rural, hardly even a village) and stay put days (options to go to Florence, Siena, San Gimingano - towns/cities with lots of culture, shops, etc.)
Location:
You will have a wonderful time exploring the spectacular countryside between Volterra and Colle di Val d’Elsa, discovering rolling hills, medieval hilltop hamlets, archetypal fields of sunflowers and, of course, endless rows of vines. These dominate the scenery in much of this world-famous wine producing region. At times San Gimignano with its inimitable stone towers, the Manhattan of its day, forms a breathtaking backdrop to your journey.
It’s an ideal way to combine wine interest (plenty of opportunity to taste Chianti and Vernacchia as well as countless other local wines!) and outstanding Tuscan cuisine with visits to Siena and Florence, two of the world’s great art cities. The hotels throughout (all with pools) are superb places to relax at the end of the days.
Who would this holiday appeal to?
Couples, anyone that is looking for a variation in scenery, some challenging cycling with good hotels, good food and fine wine. Not suitable for under 10's. Days not that long n terms of distance but all the ups and downs are tiring especially as high % (probably 50%) of off-road. Over 10's will be ok providing sporty - would suggest that they bring helmets due to terrain.
Similar to which other holidays?
Cycling is probably harder than anywhere else but maybe C10PR nearest. Scenery very much like other Tuscany. Food and wine comparable to our gastro hols.
Possibility of non-standard departures?
Could be arranged but may need to pay for taxi to transfer luggage &we could arrange taxi transfer from Volterra station.
Other details:
We could look into non standard departure dates, however clients luggage would need to be moved by taxi. Therefore an extra charge may be involved.
