The Goms Valley in southwest Switzerland is an oasis of perfection. Carved over millennia by the Rhone Glacier, it is one of the least known and most scenic landscapes of The Valais - a winter sports paradise with an excellent snow sure record. The valley is guarded by majestic 3000m peaks, below which a dozen traditional villages still flourish. Each village is as individual as a snowflake - wooden buildings cluster around historic churches as if for warmth, and cosy trailside restaurants are full of cross country skiers relaxing on sunny terraces.

Base for this holiday is the Hubertus Hotel, a charming 26-room chalet style building on the banks of the Rhone, just on the edge of the pretty farming village of Obergesteln - one of the highest in the valley. and perfectly placed for the train station (it's great fun hopping on and off the pretty mountain train that circles the valley every hour - a 6-day rail pass is included in your holiday price) and ski school, both an easy five minute walk from the door.

The welcoming, intimate atmosphere of the hotel reflects the personal attention of English speaking manager Wolfgang Schachner and talented head chef Marko Zeller. Their combination of friendly staff and wonderful cuisine is a delight, and dinners by candlelight in the elegant wood panelled dining room will be one of the highlights of your stay. To really spoil yourself, make use of the exquisite Jacuzzi and indoor pool with snowy valley views - the perfect way to relax after a day out exploring.

So that you can really get the most our of your stay here, we have arranged three morning lessons with professional local ski instructor, Kurt Hochstrasse. The ski school owner is Koni Hallenbarter who competed at two Winter Olympics for Switzerland, so you can relax in the knowledge you're in the very best hands!
