May is National Walking Month, when the Living Streets charity campaigns to create a walking nation. A few steps each day can make a big difference to everyone’s lives. Whether it’s walking the children to school, taking the dog for a runabout in the park or exploring destinations on foot, walking is free, healthy and good for the soul.

This month we surveyed 1,000 people aged 40+ to discover their walking habits. The research reveals that the majority of over 40s choose walking as their preferred way to get about when on holiday, yet only one fifth (22%) have been on a self-guided or guided walking holiday.
Here at Headwater we’re advocates of the relaxed yet active holiday, discovering regions on foot.
