For walkers we have gentle routes that take you past tiny hamlets of pretty frescoed houses and onion-domed churches scattered across the Alpine pastures of the Tyrol, all against a dramatic backdrop of rocky mountains. The area also has some of the best intermediate-level walking in the Alps, and with more than 450km of trails, many accessible directly from the hotel, the paths are rarely busy. You only need climb 400-500m for exciting and rewarding walking with magnificent views of the jagged snow-capped mountain ranges all around.

Our cycling holidays in Austria are based in the Austrian Lake District around Salzburg. This region provided a glorious mix with something to suit all travellers: spectacular views, gentle shoreline routes and lots of swimming opportunities and, on your rest days, boat trips, cable cars and the fairytale city of Salzburg await.
