La Bastiglia, Spello

The Hotel La Bastiglia boasts a beautiful setting at the foot of Mount Subasio, the enchanted mountain of Saint Francis. Originally an ancient mill the hotel has been lovingly restored and transformed into an unforgettable place to stay. There are 33 rooms divided into three categories, many overlooking the typical Umbrian landscape of cypress trees and olive groves. The restaurant serves a mix of ancient recipes and modern creations using the freshest ingredients. On display inside the hotel there is a collection of ceramics, antique furniture and important paintings from the private collection of Schifano and Norberto.

Hotel La Terrazza, Assisi

Located just a short walk from the main city gate into Assisi's historical centre, the 3* Hotel La Terrazza boasts beautiful views over the Assisi Valley, which runs between FOLIGNO and PERUGIA and is know for its varied scenery and natural colours.

The hotel itself is built from the local pastel coloured stone from Monte Subasio and is run by the affable Sig Piampiano - who is from Assisi and an expert on the area. Each of the hotel's 40 rooms is comfortable and well-appointed; in addition the rooms in the new annexe building feature a replica of the paintings that can be seen in the town's famous basilica!

La Tavola dei Cavalieri, Satriano

La Tavola dei Cavalieri is a fully restored mediaeval hamlet situated in 18 hectares of completely uncontaminated Umbrian countryside, close to Assisi. The 'Borgo' is found at 800m above sea level, and looks out across the lush green valley and dense woodland as far as La Rocca - the ancient fortress of Assisi. The surrounding territory is that of the Natural Park of Monte Subasio. The hotel accommodation is made up of 12 comfortable double rooms, each with ensuite facilities and furnished in a traditional style with wooden beams, terracotta and wrought iron furniture. The hotel is also a working organic farm and they cultivate their own crops, as well as rearing their own animals. Most of these ingredients are served in the hotel restaurant. The area is the perfect place for peace and relaxation or long country walks in the surrounding forests.

Hotel Astoria Garden, Rome

The 3-star Hotel Astoria Garden has a most unusual feature: an internal garden complete with banana and orange trees! Centrally located near the main railway station, but in a quiet residential street, this is a really good base from which to explore. There are 34 rooms, all air-conditioned and recently refurbished. They have telephone, television, and ensuite bathrooms.

Hotel Fortuna, Perugia

The traditional 3-star Hotel Fortuna is set right in the heart of the historic city. The building itself dates to the 14th century and was tastefully renovated in the early 1990's. There are still some original features - look out for the arched windows downstairs. All rooms are en suite with satellite TV, telephone, minibar and radio. There is a roof garden terrace - great views over the city and a bar/ lounge area.
