General information:
This is a 3 boot independent walk with exciting high level walking, easy to follow footpaths and excellent signposting.
The holiday will provide you with awe inspiring views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Swiss Alps.
There are wild flowers everywhere: 1,200 species, including gentian, orchids and edelweiss, and plenty of wildlife too.
Location:
This walk explores the Haut Chablais, the northernmost part of the French Alps between Lake Geneva, the Rhône valley in Switzerland and Mont Blanc. The area is characterised by high limestone massifs separated by the deeply cut valleys of the Val d’Abondance, the Vallée d’Aulps and the Vallée de Montriond. The Haut Chablais continues into Switzerland, and some of the walk follows the border along old smugglers’ paths.
The landscape is a mosaic of colourful alpine meadows, mixed woodland and glacial tarns, crowned by dramatic rocky peaks. On most days the walks climb to almost 2000m to give spectacular views in all directions. You also have the chance to climb the two highest peaks in the region.
Who would this holiday appeal to?
Experienced and reasonably fit walkers who are looking for a challenge. Also good for flower lovers earlier in the season.
Similar to which other holidays?
We think this holiday is similar to our holidays the 'Queyras Alps Walk' and 'High Pyrenees' in France or also they 'Jungfrau Peaks & Glaciers' walk in Switzerland.
