QUEYRAS ALPS WALK (FURTHER DETAILS)

HOME > ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS > HOLIDAYS IN FRANCE > HOLIDAYS IN THE FRENCH ALPS >

General information:
This holiday is a challenging 3 boot independent walk with breathtaking panoramic views of rugged mountains, high altitude lakes and colourful wild flowers.

There is also the possibility of seeing marmots, ibex, chamois, bearded vultures and golden eagles.

Location:
This breathtaking holiday is set in the spectacular and relatively undiscovered Queyras National Park. Located in the Southern Alps, and close to the Italian border, the Park enjoys a Mediterranean climate with up to 300 days of sunshine per year. Its remoteness is one reason why it has remained so beautifully unspoilt, with the traditional villages retaining their charm.

It's challenging walking at altitudes of up to 2800m, with ascents and descents of around 1000m most days. You follow well-marked paths through pine, spruce and larch forest, across meadows carpeted with wild flowers and past beautiful high altitude lakes. Every day you are surrounded by stunning, rugged peaks; several are over 3000m and include Mont Viso (3841m), just across the border in Italy
