WALKING IN THE FLORENTINE HILLS (FURTHER DETAILS)

HOME > ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS > HOLIDAYS IN ITALY > HOLIDAYS IN TUSCANY >

General information:
Independent, 8 nights, moving from hotel-to-hotel. No minimum numbers. 2 Boot level.

Paths are reasonable but can be a little overgrown in places as they are only lightly used. Some waymarking, no signs.

Location:
This holiday takes you into the hills of the Mugello region, just north of Florence; it is remarkably unspoilt and off the beaten track, despite the area’s proximity to the Tuscan capital.

You follow waymarked paths and quiet country lanes through areas of outstanding beauty. From the hilltops there are breathtaking views of Florence, the Val di Sieve and the Apennine Mountains.

The Mugello and the Val di Sieve became part of the Florentine City State in the 11C and you will pass many castles, villas and churches en route. You will also see Roman and Etruscan sites, and walk through the quintessential north Tuscan scenery of hillsides covered with vineyards, olive groves and oak and chestnut woods.

Who would this holiday appeal to?
Anyone who appreciates peace and quiet and excellent Italian cuisine. Ideal for extra days in Florence - couples and singles, good for sightseeing.

Similar to which other holidays?
Gastronomic Tuscany, Hills of Southern Tuscany (walking is similar but the scenery is different). Walking has some similarities to our 2 Boot Pyrenees.

Possibility of non-standard departures?
Not really but holiday goes every 2 days anyway. Possibly miss off first one or two days by guests going straight from airport to Il Trebbiolo.

Other details:
Continental breakfasts and 6 evening meals included.
