HAUT JURA WALK (FURTHER DETAILS)

HOME > ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS > HOLIDAYS IN FRANCE > HOLIDAYS IN THE JURA >

General information:
2 Boot level walking

Quite gentle 2 boot grade walking. Walks are quite long, but as the plateaux are relatively flat there are not too many difficult climbs, (long walks but not difficult).

Varied walking along well marked routes, mostly along forest paths, stoney tracks and through alpine meadows. Walking boots are essential. Very well marked walks with GR markings

Location:
On this holiday you explore the relatively unknown Haut Jura National Park situated close to the Swiss border. The plateau sits at around 1000m altitude, and so you enjoy the feel of an alpine region, but without too many difficult climbs. It’s enjoyable undemanding walking, following well marked trails through pine and spruce forest and across lush green meadows. It’s a popular cross-country skiing region in winter, and when the snow melts the meadows are carpeted with a colourful mass of wild flowers.

Every day, as you traverse the plateaux, you enjoy fantastic views of the Bienne valley and the Flumen Gorges, and on a clear day you can even see the French Alps including Mont Blanc

Who would this holiday appeal to?
Couples, anyone who loves the mountains, but prefers easier walks, nature lovers, good for flora and fauna.

Similar to which other holidays?
This holdiay is similar to our holdiay to the Pyrenees, in France

Possibility of non-standard departures?
Non-standard departures are not available as this is a repped region, but the holiday runs every other day.

If extra nights are required during the holiday, it is recommended to have 2 nights at a time. This will ensure the Headwater reps can transfer luggage on your behalf.
