This classic walk follows the GR13 Grande Randonnée from Auxerre to Avallon. En route you also stay in Vézelay, a fortified medieval town with a fine Romanesque abbey. You walk beside rivers - the Yonne, the Cure and the Cousin and through cherry orchards and the vineyards of the Côte de l’ Auxerrois. Along the way there are hillsides crowned with little woods, pretty villages, châteaux of various periods and prehistoric caves.
The railway also follows the river along the valleys. Guests appreciate the extra flexibility this gives, both on the walks and on Stay Put Days.
