General information:
This is a 7 night, 2 boot guided walking holiday,

Staying in a traditional mountain village off the tourist trail. It is a traditional gathering place of mountain shepherds. You will find ancient houses weighed down by their heavy roofs, and quaint old-fashioned bars. There are breathtaking views of the Alps, Mont Blanc and Mont Ventoux.

The scenery and londscapes are dramatic: deep gorges, sweeping vistas and ancient volcanoes. An amazing variety of birds, butterflies nad wild flowers can also be seen.

Location:
Our hotel is in the Auvergne region, at the foot of the Massif Central. France’s great rivers have their source there, the Loire in particular, rises at the foot of Mont Mézenc, just to the east of Les Estables. It’s a land of deep gorges and ravines and above all, wonderful sweeping landscapes - “horizontal vertigo” is how the locals describe the feeling these evoke! In the villages, grey stone houses, with their heavy lauze roofs, huddle together. Isolated farmhouses are scattered across the uplands. It’s been a tough life here over the centuries and the region has gradually become depopulated, as the young people leave to look for work in the cities.

Sociable francophiles!, Everyone eats around the same table - English & Frenchies alike - so must be willing to 'Mix'.

Les Estables is a tiny village, so not suitable for anyone looking for alot of night life!

We think this holiday is similar to the Lakes & Mountains walk in the Dolomites or Walking in the Julian Alps. These are both 3 boot guided walks.

Possibility of non-standard departures?
It is not possible to start this holiday on a non standard date. If you required extra nights it would need to be for 7 extra nights as it entails a 2 hour coach transfer in each direction
