Highlights The Lot remains undoubtedly one of France's least spoiled regions, with dramatic views at every turn: forgotten valleys, cliff-hanging villages, mediaeval towns and world-famous pre-historic sites. Wonderfully friendly hotels too.

6 Nights, 2 cycle Independent Cycling Holiday.
This is a hotel to hotel holiday, and the base hotel is situated in the village of Tour de Faure.
Difficulty of cycling
This holiday is at the harder end of 2 bike holiday
Fairly long distances on some days, lots of ascents and descents. Some quite steep climbs out of the valleys. You are rewarded with spectacular views and great freewheeling back down!!
A few short sections on busy roads, but most of cycling is on quiet country roads.
On this holiday you follow a triangular route, beginning by the majestic River Lot and then riding along the idyllic Célé valley. The little roads wind up onto the causse (plateau) before turning southwards. Your return is along the River Lot, hugging its banks all the way to St-Cirq-Lapopie, which dominates the valley above your Hotel. You can explore the famous caves at Pech’Merle, delightful medieval villages and hillside towns, fine châteaux and interesting churches and abbeys.
The cycling is a joy: the climbs are followed by exhilarating downhill runs, and there is plenty of opportunity en route for swimming, wine tasting, relaxing picnics – and some delicious meals.
This holiday would appeal to couples of all ages or families with older children. This is because the cycling routes are quite long and there are some quite hilly sections. This IS a good holiday for people who enjoy cycling in rural locations with great scenery and enjoy good food and wine. This is not a very good region for vegetarians.
This holiday is similar to both Burgundy and Provence.
Non-standard departures are not possible on this holiday, although it does depart every two days.
This holiday can be shortened to 4 nights by taking out the rest days.
Continental breakfast and evening meals are included on this holiday.
Car parking is available at the base hotel in Tour de Faure. This is free of charge.
We're probably a little biased, so here's what our customers say...
