General information:
This is a low level canoeing holiday, which is easy for beginners.
It is an 8 night independent holiday suitable for couples and families with children over 8 years old. Most hotels have swimming pools. There is lots of sightseeing along the river including chateaux, ancient villages and world famous prehistoric sites.
Location:
The circuit takes you along the Dordogne River, Stopping off every other day. Where you can relax around the hotel, or hire bikes to get around (£15 per adult and £7.50 per child)
Who would this holiday appeal to?
Best suited to couples and families with children 8 years of age and older. The reason for the age limit is that children must be able to swim away from danger in the event of capsizing.
All clients on this holiday must be able to swim 50 metres fully clothed. If you want to take children under 8 years of age then please call. We do not except single travellers on this holiday unless they are experienced.
Possibility of non-standard departures?
Non-standard departures are not available as this is a repped region, but the holiday runs every other day.
If extra nights are required during the holiday, it is recommended to have 2 nights at a time. This will ensure Headwaters reps can transfer luggage
Other details:
What's included?
Canoe (this can carry 2 adults & up to 2 children) or lightweight single person kayak with open cockpits if specified at time of booking. We also supply waterproof containers for storing picnics and wallets etc, buoyancy aids and helmet for each party member.Special considerations
Best to take 1 canoe between 2 rather than 1 kayak each as it will be more comfortable - especially for adults - and more practical for carrying picnics/extra clothing. Children under 12 years are allowed in kayaks if they are experienced (Please note, we may require further details before allowing anyone under 12 on our holiday). Kayaking can be hard work for younger/smaller children and they need to be able to understand the reps instructions and be capable of recognising hazards and avoiding them.
