Winter walking is a great choice for people who have perhaps not been on a snow-based holiday before, and are not sure if cross country skiing appeals. The emphasis is on relatively gentle walking at a relaxed pace and in a small group, with plenty of time to admire the magnificent scenery.
Our base for this winter walking week is the charming Tyrolean village of Trins, located just south of Innsbruck, and flanked by three different valleys, each offering an immense range of interesting and varied walking amid spectacular Alpine scenery.
Walking paths ascend directly west to the beautiful Gschnitztal and Obernbergtal valleys where we follow winter paths through forests and woods under the impressive rugged Stubai Alps. Our journey into the Schmirntal Valley, which rises east into the Zillertal Alps, offers other equally impressive panoramas and the chance to experience an exciting toboggan run. Depending on the weather and ability of each group, we may also venture into the high rolling plateau of Mariawaldrast (1700m) - here the former mediaeval monastery is now a welcoming cafe run by the last remaining monk!
Centrally located in the heart of the village, *** Hotel Wienerhof is a traditional family-run hotel dating back to 1731. With just 22 rooms, it's an intimate and friendly place to stay. There's a cosy bar and dining room. At the end of every day's walking, complimentary afternoon tea is on offer, and there is no single supplement on any date.
We also offer a cross-country skiing holiday at this hotel - ideal if some of your party would prefer a skiing week.

We're probably a little biased, so here's what our customers say...
"Fantastic holiday - one of our best ever. Best in Austria and we have been many times."
