SKIING AND SNOWSHOEING IN RONDANE

We believe, and customers tell us, that this cross country skiing and snowshoeing holiday is the perfect blend of discovery and indulgence: masses of blissfully quiet trails, fabulously unspoilt countryside and high quality accommodation offering first class facilities and fine regional cuisine.

Our base for this holiday is Norway’s first spa hotel, spectacularly located in the heart of the country and on the edge of the majestic 580km2 Rondane National Park. A grand family-run, traditional red timber building, it dates to 1939 and is surrounded by the pretty wooden cabins of Mysuseter village.

The skiing here is pretty special too and, with over 200kms of trails radiating out from the hotel door, visitors really are spoilt for choice. New for winter 2008/9, our resident Headwater rep is based at the hotel. He/she will help get you started then, once you’re confident and feel in control, will accompany you on all daily trips. We have also included a guided weekly evening snowshoe excursion – look out for the amazing array of animal tracks where lynx, reindeer, foxes and hare seem to have taken to using the trails as nocturnal highways!

When you’re not skiing, you can take advantage of the luxurious spa facilities on offer: a huge heated pool, saunas, aroma spa massages, Hungarian mud treatments and herbal baths. Headwater guests receive 20% discount on most treatments. Then, in the evenings, you’ll enjoy fine gourmet meals followed by coffee in the candle-lit lounge next to a roaring log fire. Bliss!
