Originally a summer farm, the Venabu Fjellhotel was
converted by the Tvete family over 50 years ago, and is
today very much a friendly, relaxing “home from home” place
to stay. Headwater guests can choose from the 20 standard east
wing rooms or the 36 superior rooms in the west wing.
Everyone can use the hotel’s saunas, solarium, jacuzzi and
games room (pool, table tennis, etc). There’s also a bar, TV
room, craft shop and two spacious sitting rooms. The dining
room affords glorious panoramic views out across the
Gudbrandsdalen Valley, with fells and valleys that extend as far
as the eye can see.
The walking programme consists of groups of typically 6-10
people, and we use minibuses to get you to altitude and to
the best bits. Providing there are more than 6 people (in total),
a choice of 1 and 2 boot guided walks will be offered each
day.
You eat well here too! After a hearty breakfast, a picnic lunch is
provided for all walking days. Evening meals are magnificent
and copious Scandinavian buffets (with numerous hot and cold
meat, fish and vegetarian dishes), and there is usually a
barbeque on Fridays. Delicious desserts include waffles, piping
hot griddle cakes and an enormous variety of berries
(cloudberries with cream are the Headwater favourite!).
