One of the most popular holidays in the Headwater range,
this 8-night cycling holiday is based in La Rioja Alta
(Upper Rioja) in the northern tip of the province, and takes in
the main wine-growing centres. It’s a totally unspoilt landscape
characterised by rolling vineyards, ancient villages, hidden
farming hamlets and mediaeval ruins.
The cycling is relaxed and mostly undemanding, and it’s not too
hot, even in high summer, as the sun is softened by breezes
coming in over the mountains from the Atlantic Coast. You’ll
explore hilltop towns, visit ancient bodegasand pass modern
day pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. All along
your route you have the opportunity to sample some of Spain’s
finest wines - don’t forget we’ll pick up your purchases for you.
Your accommodation on this holiday is special too. First and
last nights are spent in the **** Los Augustinos Hotel in Haro
- formerly a C14 convent, now a luxury hotel with fantastic
courtyard and cloisters. Other hotel highlights include
Casalarreina - giant luxury spa massage baths in every room! -
and the magnificently restored, UNESCO-listed monastery in
San Millan. Meals throughout are superb.

This is our 4th holiday with Headwater and your standards have been consistently high.
