  • Quintessential and timeless Tuscany packed with cultural, natural and historic interest
  • Sun-drenched landscapes, ancient hill top towns, Mediaeval villages, great art cities
  • Fabulously varied cycling: rolling hills, lush valleys, quiet country roads and traffic-free strade bianche
  • Swimming pools at 4 out of 5 hotels
  • Enchanting Lake Trasimeno; scenes from “The English Patient”, “Gladiator”, and Zeffirelli’s “Romeo and Juliet”

New for 2010, we think this 8-night Tuscan cycling holiday - with the option to extend to 10-nights - has it all: mediaeval villages, hilltop towns, Renaissance churches and Etruscan & Roman remains. Take in the lush, verdant plains of the Val di Chiana that stretch down to the shores of Lake Trasimeno, and the gently rolling ochre-coloured hills of the Val d’Orcia – a UNESCO world heritage site since 2004.

You pedal mainly along small, traffic-free country lanes and strade bianche, as you follow our scenically beautiful and culturally rich cycling routes. Highlights include Hannibal’s Battlefield by the shores of Lake Trasimeno, the idealised Renaissance Pienza, hilltop Montalcino with its mediaeval fortress and beautiful Cortona, full of Romanesque palaces and Etruscan tombs. The great art treasures of Perugia and Siena can easily be reached on free days by bus or train.

There are many hidden gems too: sleepy Montefollonico, in the heart of the Creti Senesi, and the prestigious wine capital, Montepulciano - home to some of the world’s most famous Italian fine wines.
