This unhurried Loire cycling holiday contains the hiddenaway delights that motorised visitors usually miss, and an experience of the classic cuisine of the region. You get just enough exercise to work up an appetite for the next great meal!

You’re in the heart of the great Loire châteaux country. Montrichard, Cheverny, Blois and Montpoupon are all right here, together with many fascinating smaller castles. You’ll make lots of personal discoveries as you pedal through the region along country lanes and cycle tracks. As well as exploring numerous châteaux, you can taste dozens of different wines - stopping at big wineries or village vineyards as the mood takes you - in a wine region more varied and diverse than any other in the world.

You stay at a beautiful C16 château set in large gardens, a pretty family-run inn with a gastronomic restaurant and a riverside hotel with a wonderful welcome and great food. Their chefs introduce you to the very best of Loire cuisine. It’s civilised and refined country cooking, not heavy but rich in flavours and textures, drawing on the great garden of the Loire valley.

Short break 'taster' option

This holiday is also available as a 4 night 'taster' version. You follow the same route as the regular holiday, but move on everyday (no rest days), making it ideal for a long weekend break.
