About Perugia
Perched proudly on its hill overlooking the Tiber, the mediaeval town of Perugia is one of the most attractive in Umbria. First time visitors should not miss the 15th century San Lorenzo cathedral or the Galleria Nazionale which houses one of Italy’s finest art collections. The National Archeological Museum for Umbria is also based here with relics from the Etruscan, Roman and Paleolithic eras from as early as 2BC.
Aside from its historic links, the city is also famous for its International Jazz Festival and Baci chocolates – enjoyed all round the world. The Euochocolate festival takes place in October, when you can taste chocolate at almost every corner!
The traditional *** Hotel Fortuna is set right in the heart of the historic city. The building itself dates to the 14th century and was tastefully renovated in the early 1990’s. There are still some original features – look out for the arched windows downstairs. All rooms are en suite with satellite TV, telephone, minibar and radio. There is a roof garden terrace - great views over the city – and a bar/ lounge area.
