Tenuta San Michele is a wonderfully restored farm-hotel in the lovely hill-top village of Santa Venerina, on the south-eastern slopes of Mt Etna. The views are a stunning mix of extensive vineyards to the west, the volcano to the north and, southwards, out towards the turquoise Ionian Sea.

Some of the best wines of the region come from this estate that has remained in the same family for centuries. Exclusive visits round the vineyards, cellar and winery can be organised locally for hotel guests, and tastings are, of course, possible.

The bedrooms, all furnished with traditional and antique fittings, are all en-suite with satellite TV, telephone, fan, heating and minibar. Breakfast, served either in the breakfast room or on the patio overlooking Mt Etna, is all freshly prepared using local produce – first-class array of jams straight from the estate! There is a lovely traditional restaurant just opposite the estate where you can book to take dinner.

Tenuta San Michele is just a 30 minute easy drive from Catania airport, and Taormina is also less than 45 minutes distant. You are just 10kms from the nearest beach.
