You've a great choice of activity holidays in Switzerland. In the summer there's gentle
walking through to high level alpine hikes and, in the winter,
cross country skiing choices for all levels.
Summer activity holidays in Switzerland
In the west, close to the French border, is the
Valais region. The area is still largely undiscovered by tourists and on a walking holiday here you'll hardly see another soul. You walk through fragrant cherry and apricot blossom and gentle pastures that sway with dozens of rare wild flowers including Christmas roses, Hairy daphnes and White asphodel. The views of the Swiss and Italian Alps, the Matterhorn, the Dents du Midi and even the southern French Alps are simply breathtaking.
To the north of the country, in the Germand speaking
Bernese Oberland region, our walking holidays offer you the lion’s share of Switzerland’s classic alpine scenery, with many of the highest peaks (over 4,000m), deepest valleys, most extensive glaciers, tallest waterfalls and largest mountain lakes. The long summer days are perfect for high mountain walking, and late September onwards is typically a period of ‘Indian summer’ with fabulous red and golden hues and crystal clear air.
In southern Switzerland our walking holidays are based at
Davos as well as in the
Goms Valley. A favourite with Swiss hikers, but still a well kept secret, it offers an outstanding mix of majestic snowy mountains, thundering waterfalls, and Europe's longest glacier. You'll hear church bells chime down the valley and see fountains of flowers grace village window boxes as you stoll from one delicious meal to another.
Winter activity holidays in Switzerland
In the winter months the snowy peaks offer a damatic backdrop to our cross country skiing holidays. Switzerland is a snow sure destination, with many immaculately groomed trails, and the same postcard pretty villages and high quality hotels that make it so appealing for the rest of the year.
