FOOD & WINE IN CYPRUS

Cypriot wine has always been highly rated, drunk by both King Solomon and the Egyptian Pharaohs. One of the most famous vintages is Commandaria, a sweet dessert wine. Richard the Lionheart liked it so much he named it the 'Wine of Kings and the King of Wines'. The fertile slopes of the Troodos mountains produce a couple of excellent full bodied reds, try Olympus and Ornello. Amathus is a light crisp white, great with those fresh fish dishes.
