Everyone booking a holiday receives a Headwater information pack with detailed trip notes to help
you get the most out of your holiday. Further advice is available from our office staff and overseas
representatives / partners when needed.
Accommodation and meal plans
- Accommodation: based on two adults sharing a twin or double room, in accommodation and for the number of nights as shown in the holiday price table. Extra nights are available at most hotels at a supplement.
- Room with private shower/bath and loo (and usually phone), within the classification shown in the price table.
- The number of nights spent in hotels of different classifications is shown in price tables like this:
Hotels: ** (2), * (2), h (2), A (2)
* is the country's official hotel rating.
h shows the classification of accommodation such as French chambres d’hôte and Italian agriturismi.
A indicates the level of comfort of auberges, alberghi etc not falling within the local classification systems. All these are officially licensed, very popular with clients, and very much part of the country way of life.
- Meal plans: as shown in price tables.
What else is included
Hotel-to-hotel and twin/multi centre holidays
- Transport of bags between hotels.
- Briefing and local information.
- Headwater route notes.
- Headwater map kit generally 1:25,000 for walkers, 1:100,000 for cycling and canoeing holidays.
- Cyclists: fully equipped all-terrain touring bike with panniers, water bottle, or child’s all-terrain touring bike.
- Canoeists: provision of boat (canoe/kayak as specified), paddles, helmets, buoyancy aids, 25 litre waterproof container, boat lock and chain.
Single centre holidays
- Guide services as described in holiday descriptions.
- Guided walks from walking hotels as specified in holiday descriptions.
- Cyclists: fully equipped all-terrain touring bike with panniers, water bottle, or child’s all-terrain touring bike.
- Access to sport, leisure and other facilities listed in the holiday descriptions. Where activities are extra, we say so.
- Admissions to châteaux, galleries, museums etc where specified as included.
- Headwater regional information booklet.
- Skiers: Headwater information kit, any special Christmas / New Year meals (excluding drinks) and celebrations as detailed on the holiday page, Nordic cross country ski pack as detailed on the holiday page, guide services as described in the holiday descriptions (guided holidays only)
Extra nights / City breaks
These include accommodation (and meals, where specified), but not the cost of travel between airport/station and hotel.
Taxes
VAT is included in all prices. Departure/arrival taxes and visa
charges which are payable locally in cash are not included in
the holiday price: currently in Jordan 10JD, Turkey £10, Peru
US$50 (inc. internal taxes), Ecuador US$40, Costa Rica US$26
and in St Lucia US$26. Local tourist taxes like the French taxe
de séjour(if charged, not usually more than £1 per day) are also
not included and are payable directly to your hotelier at the end
of your stay.

Children’s Discounts
'Child' in the holiday data panels means a child over 2 and under 12 on the date of outward travel (sharing with 2 adults). For infants under 2, prices from just £59 per infant based of self drive, taking own cot and paying locally for any meals.
