From walking in Italy through the beautifully idyllic Tuscan countryside, to walking holidays in France, where there's everything from gentle coastal strolls to hiking in the French Alps. Guided walking holidays

On our guided walking holidays our expert guides will introduce you to the hidden delights of your destination whether it's fascinating flora and fauna in Spain, intriguing local customs in Jordan or magnificent historic sites in Greece. These walking holidays are often ideal for people travelling alone and many holiday dates have no single supplement for 2008.

Independent walking holidays

If you prefer to explore at your own pace our independent walking holidays give you the flexibility to set off when you're ready, stop when and where you like, and visit the places that most interest you - from the pretty little villages of rural France, to stylish piazzas in Italy, to the stunning mountain and valley views of Switzerland. We provide comprehensive route notes and proper maps and, on our hotel-to-hotel walking holidays, our local representatives will transport your bags so you've no heavy backpacks to carry. Our easier independent walking holidays are suitable for children and, of course, infants can always be carried in papooses on these walking holidays.

Short break walking holidays

If you'd like to try a walking holiday but can't fit in a full week away, or perhaps you'd prefer a short introduction to walking with Headwater, a short break walking holiday is just for you. Available in France and Spain, these independent holidays follow the same routes as our regular 7-day holidays, but you walk every day (no rest days). You get the same great service as our regular walking holidays but in a package that's ideal as long weekend break.

Our latest walking holidays

For 2008, our walking programme has been extended to include Peru, Bermuda, Hungary and Secret Valleys of Ronda in Spain's Andalucia. Our latest additions are guided walking in Argentina and independent walking on Gran Canaria. That makes a massive 90 walking choices in 36 different countries!
