Headwater joins forces with Sport Relief!

On the 26th and 27th of March, Headwater celebrated its 25th birthday by staging a 48 hour "Around the County in 80 Ways" event in aid of Sport Relief.

Starting out from our Northwich offices, our mission was to travel round Cheshire using whatever means we could - from cars and trains to stilts and space-hoppers, canoes and bikes to buggies and trailers... raising money and raising a smile wherever we could!

Our tour of the county began on Friday 26th jogging and cycling from our office to the nearby village of Hartford before a trip to The Petty Pool Outdoor Centre near Northwich where some of the more intrepid Headwater staff tacked a spot of rock climbing and abseiling before performing the 'leap of death' on their high-level rope course. Having survived that, we then set off for Chester for fun and fund-raising! Armed with a variety of 'transport', including space-hoppers, stilts - and even a wheelbarrow! - we pounded the streets in search of donations (and other forms of transport too!)

The next morning we were up bright and early - for a spot of gentle paddling along the Bridgewater Canal before heading off to Nantwich where the local farmers' market provided plenty of tempting delicacies throughout the day! Once again, our team of fund-raisers provided entertainment for the shoppers in return for a few more pennies in the collection buckets.

In the afternoon the team set-off for Tattenhall Ice Cream Farm for some delicious, and well-deserved, Cheshire farm ice cream (and a little more fund-raising) before arriving at our final destination for the weekend - Delamere Forest. Unfortunately our plan to take-on the Go Ape rope course had to be abandoned so, instead, we engaged the local walkers, cyclists and their families in space-hopper races, scooter riding, and skipping games.

Initially we had hoped to raise around £1000, so we're delighted to announce that, thanks to the generosity of everyone we met, Headwater have, so far, raised a grand total of £1,129.30 for Sport Relief 2010.
